How do I know if I could benefit from therapy?

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Most clients want a space to talk safely and freely about their relationships, situations they are in or their mental health. Some want to improve aspects of their lives and explore how to change.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy is a process that unfolds differently for everyone however in general the more specific the issue you bring the more focused the therapy is.

When you have an initial session we will discuss together and agree when to have a review and if you would benefit from limited amount of sessions or longer term therapy.

Can you tell me more about the free consultation call?

The call is for you to tell me about your situation and to ask me questions about how I work. We will get a good sense of one another by the end of the 20 minutes call. I will have formed an idea of how I could best meet your needs and you can take your time to decide if you feel I could be the right therapist for you. If I feel that I am not a good fit to help, when possible I will try to give you an appropriate referral to another therapist.

How often do I need to come to therapy?

To form a consistent, trusting relationship can take time and it is the most significant factor in successful outcomes. I advise starting with once a week and seeing how it goes. Some clients prefer staring with twice a week however I will tell you if I don’t think it necessary.

How do I know if we are a good fit?

It can feel daunting to choose from a sea of therapists who have their own unique ways of relating. The best way I can describe ‘a good fit’ is that from the beginning you get a sense that you are accepted as you are, heard and your therapist is genuinely interested and trying to understand you.

What is confidentiality?

It is one of the most important elements that makes a conversation safe. To know that your therapist keeps private what you say in the room and in their mind; it is necessary to open up about your life.

The only exception is made when information is shared with a supervisor keeping your identity anonymous; this is common practice to best support therapists with clients.

How much does a session cost?

I work on a sliding scale. Please contact me on therapy@dianemetta.com for more information
